The Operating Life Formula was first devised by our friend and business mentor James Simms as part of an extensive business training course known as Business by Design. The copyright in this material is still owned by James, who has kindly allowed us to adapt it for use with this program. This follows the major premise of our work, adapting corporate leadership training to assist GM&F\u2019s to govern their households more successfully.<\/p>\n

The diagram below is a simplified version of what is the very heart of Business by Design. This will help you see which areas of your life you should be allocating time and attention to if you wish to run a more balanced and stress free life.<\/p>\n

Most people make the mistake of expecting that area 1 & 2 will provide all of their families physical and emotional needs. The truth is that without the extra income provided by areas 3, 4 and 5, most families will either struggle with poverty or area 1 will take vital time away from area 2.<\/p>\n

Most families struggle setting boundaries between area 1 and area 2 bringing work and it’s associated stresses home.<\/p>\n
